They should just make the game, release in “beta” for about half a year so teirs can develope, then forcibly take back all beta games, and even them out so that there all almost identicle on any “Teirs”! MUAHHAHAHA!!!

@8sblack This was the Melee tier list. And Kirby was a horrible fighter in Melee, as opposed C. Falcon, Fox, and Marth.

@drsoda812 Yeah, I agree that choosing the better characters to win more money makes sense. My point was that this game is moderately balanced. When I said that “too many people flock to higher tier characters”, what I meant was that when people have a main/mains, then discover the tier list and/or more about the metagame, they tend ditch their previous main(s) because they no longer think those characters are viable. When they ARE viable, just to a lesser extent.

@infiniteV115 Hm, that’s a stretch. I would say you have a noticeable chance at E tier or above. Still, data doesn’t lie: MK, Diddy, Snake, and Falco all have impressive numbers of tournament wins under their belt. I think the reason you see more C tiers and above is because most players aren’t Top Professionals and will try to use C tier or above to maximize chances of winning. Call it a dissolution of character variety, but that sounds like a logical approach to a tourney, doesn’t it?

@infiniteV115 It is sometimes annoying to see only top or high level tier characters in tournaments, occasional mid, but you have to realize it from the players’ perspectives: they’re there to win money. If you were trying to win money, weren’t you use your best possible character that also had a high advantage over the majority of other characters (aka Top or High tier)? If you are tired of seeing MK, Snake, Diddy, etc, then perhaps you should watch/participate in Low Tier tournaments :/.

@drsoda812 Eh, it depends on how you view viability. Some people say things like “only high and top tier characters are tourney viable”, tourney viable meaning it’s not unrealistic for them to place well in tournaments often. I honestly think Yoshi and everyone above him (on the current tier list) are tourney viable (with MK gone that is). So that’s 27/37 = 73% of the cast are tourney viable, which I would say is pretty balanced.
I just think too many people flock to higher tier characters. -

@infiniteV115 What the hell are you talking about? The game is NOT balanced. It SEEMS very balanced; something about the physics or the move-sets made it seem so balanced the first few weeks I played it. I believe in casual play the game is very balanced; but the higher and higher in competitive play you go, the more stratified the game becomes. It’s inevitable. Like in a race: the fist few minutes everybody is clustered, but the longer the race goes, the more spaced out the runners get.
